Movement
"Teds dancing is electric, gravity is not an issue. There are highs and lows, moments of anger and calm. Exploding, deep, heavy, moving , a constant roll of integral feelings, from inspiring enlightenment to the end of the world."
- Dame Tracey Emin CBE RA
Be it for their own performances, movement direction and choreography for film, artist development for fellow performers or dance workshops where they share their knowledge with non-professionals, Ted's movement is fuelled by their extraordinary history as a world class performer.
Post studying Musical Theatre at Performers College in Essex; Ted attributes a major part of their development to their time dancing under the choreographic direction of Holly Blakey.
Their entry into fine-art was due in part to their participation in the works of many renowned artists including Lindsey Mendick, Rosie Hastings and Hannah Quinlan, Anthea Hamilton, Jenkyn Van Zyl and Gray Wielebinski.
Their latest performance "Valentine" was performed and recorded at Tate Modern as part of Dame Tracey Emin's "A Second Life".
Ted has choreographed globally for brands such as: Gucci, Cadbury, Mango, The North Face and Levis.
Their approach to Movement Direction is far more than choreography. A deep understanding of all aspects of the 3D environment of film and stage are required to bring the Director's vision into reality. Ted is the communicative conduit between Directors, DOP's, Talent, Creative Agencies and the Client; marrying the very real needs of the Talent for emotional priming, world-building, character development and choreography with the nuanced logistical requirements of complex sets, lighting and camera movements.
Ted's approach highly prioritises true emotionality of performance, absolute scrutiny of detail through the monitor and optimal contextual clarity for all members in front and behind the camera.
Below are some selected portfolio moments from Ted's career...
